* more comfortable beachfront resorts south of Pattaya
* Bang Saray Beach; the way Pattaya used to be
Bang Saray might share a coast with its famous neighbour Pattaya, but it shares nothing else in common. Bang Saray is a distinctively Thai community, and while quite a lot of tourists come here to eat in the big seaside restaurants, they are nearly all Thai. There are just three beachfront resorts to the north of the village, and most of the guests in those are also Thais, for Bang Saray is a weekend and holiday escape for people in Bangkok.
The beach along this coast is very ordinary; rather narrow with not-so-clear water. But of course it will be cleaner here than further north at Pattaya. The resorts here are certainly relaxing, and you have to drive to find restaurants and shopping. The only entertainment is that in Pattaya, some twenty kilometres away.
The southern-most of the three beachfront resorts here, Sea Sand Sun Resort, is two kilometres north of Bang Saray village and its many restaurants, a 30-minute walk along the beach for those who are reasonably healthy.
Sunset Park Resort is particularly attractive, being built into the natural forest with some original water ways also left intact.
